TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy made another strong showing last week in Hopelink’s March Can Drive competition to help stock the agency’s food banks, but fell short of the final round this week, losing to Guild Mortgage of Kirkland in the final four.Β 

During the competition, TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy brought in 2,838 pounds of food – an impressive showing during the business’s rookie season in the March food drive.

Guild Mortgage will go head-to-head with Hancock’s Bakery of Redmond in the final round. Defending champ Hancock’s knocked off the Greater Redmond Chamber of Commerce in the final four.

To ensure that businesses of all sizes are able to compete on a level playing field, the competition uses a unique scoring system:Β  the total pounds of food donated by a business are divided by the total number of employees, resulting in a competitive β€œscore.”

The four businesses competing in week four collected a total of 5,530 pounds of food and $443 in cash, bringing the total for the campaign so far to 18,670 pounds and $2,454 – closing in on twice last year’s total of 9,809 pounds.

Members of the media, competitors and the public are invited to the announcement of the winner and trophy presentation on Friday (April 6) at JJ Mahoney’s, 8932 161stΒ Ave. NE in Redmond from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
