Wind Advisory For City Of Shoreline

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory in effect from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. today. The strongest winds are expected to be southerly 25 to 35 mph with gust up to 45 mph.

High winds in our area always bring the possibility of falling branches and trees and local power outages. Please stay safe and stay away from any downed power lines and sagging trees with broken limbs. Report outages to Seattle City Light at (206) 684-3000. For emergencies, dial 911. For issues such as road blockages because of downed limbs, please contact the City's Customer Response Team at (206) 801-2700.

Reminders:

• Never use a generator or a charcoal or gas grill in an enclosed space, including your garage, because of the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. Learn more about staying safe in a power outage: Power outages and carbon monoxide poisoning
• Before a storm:
  • Clear broken, loose, and dead tree limbs and evaluate the health of suspect trees so you can remove them before bad weather does it for you.
  • Take care of other wind and weather hazards outside your home; for example, put away or tie down items that are light enough to be moved or knocked around by wind.
  • Have a battery-powered or hand-crank radio, flashlights, and extra batteries on hand.
  • Prepare to take care of yourself and those who depend on you (including pets) for at least three days without electricity and/or being able to leave your home. This means making a plan with your family and storing supplies including water and food at home, work, and in your car.
