Witnesses Still Needed in Fatal Pedestrian Collision on Interstate 5

Former Shorewood student died of injuries sustained after jump from 145th St. overpass

Before 1 a.m. on Saturday,Β AprilΒ 28th a female pedestrian, Kelsey Lippincott, 17, of Tukwila,Β died of her injuries after leaping from the 145th St. overpass into the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 after being struck by multiple vehicles.

At 12:41 a.m. the Washington State Patrol 911 dispatch received reports of a pedestrian standing alone on the side of the NE 145th overpass for southbound Interstate 5 over traffic.

Troopers arrived at the scene to find the 17-year-old former Shorewood with fatal injuries in the center lane of southbound Interstate 5. Witnesses stated the female was struck by passenger cars and a semi truck that continued on. Investigators believe that several vehicles struck her but continued on potentially unaware they had struck a person.

Washington State Patrol detectives continue to search for witnesses and involved parties. Β Several vehicles that pulled onto the right shoulder following the pedestrian collision are still unaccounted for. Β Among those vehicles being sought are a red pickup truck with matching red canopy and red passenger car with a black male occupant.
