December is National Mobilization to combat Impaired/ Drugged Driving
WA State Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign is Dec 15th – Jan 1st
In region 16 (Spokane, Stevens, Pend Oreille, and Whitman Counties), 61% of our roadway fatalities between 2016 and 2020 were caused by impaired driving. Our region is using extra emphasis patrols in December to reduce impaired driving during the month of December.
But we need YOUR Help.
The Spokane County Target Zero Task Force and your area law enforcement agencies encourage you to make a choice not to drive if you have consumed alcohol or other substances. Decide on your plan ahead of time, whether that is staying the night where you are or using an alternate method of getting home. If you're in a situation where someone wants to drive impaired, take action. That might look like giving someone a ride, ordering a cab or rideshare, letting them sleep on your couch, or even calling 911 if they insist on driving.
We want everyone to make it home safely to those they love this December!
Scheduled December Impaired Driving Emphasis Patrol dates
