• More weekend hours, controversial staff changes coming to Pierce Co. libraries (thenewstribune.com) — University Place Library will shift to longer, standardized hours starting Jan. 18, opening 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Friday–Sunday. Those changes are part of a countywide reorganization that will rotate staff among branches, add more weekend access, and respond to budget pressures while trying to preserve core programs.
   

• Pierce County libraries update hours for weekend access (mynorthwest.com) — Starting January 18, the University Place Pierce County Library will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday–Sunday, adding more weekend access. The Pierce County Library System says the new schedule is based on community data and is meant to better serve busy families across its 19 branches.
