Wenatchee School District braces for $2.9M federal funding loss, potential staff cuts (thenewstribune.com) — Wenatchee School District is preparing for a projected $2.9 million loss in federal funding that could cut staff positions and key programs serving migrant, multilingual, and vulnerable students. District leaders and the teachers union say they hope to limit layoffs through retirements and transfers, but warn that services and support for students across Wenatchee schools may look very different by the 2026-27 year.
   

2. FLINT, the Wenatchee Humane Society Pet of the Week (thequake1021.com) — If you’re looking for a new four-legged friend in Wenatchee, Flint is a 3-year-old Siberian Husky available now at the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society. Staff say he’s a goofy, affectionate 54‑pound companion who does best as the only dog and in a home without small children, with adoptions open most days except Wednesdays.
   

3. Hort Show Day 3: Breaks and H-2A covered in labor session; timing and costs in pest control talks (goodfruit.com) — Growers and ag professionals gathered this week at the Wenatchee Convention Center to dig into new H-2A labor rules, break requirements, and cost-saving pest control strategies. Speakers urged better documentation and enforcement of meal and rest breaks, while researchers stressed strong first-generation codling moth and fire blight control, careful spray timing, and off‑season planning to save money and avoid long‑term orchard problems.
   

4. Eastmont searching for new football coach (ncwlife.com) — East Wenatchee’s Eastmont High School is again looking for a new head football coach after Jay Foster stepped down following two winning seasons and back-to-back playoff appearances. The athletic director has just posted the job and expects to clarify the hiring timeline after returning from a national conference, leaving returning Wildcats players to guide their own offseason for now.
