After finally gaining access, she found missing appliances, animal waste, and debris, and now plans to push lawmakers for changes to protect property owners in similar situations.

Suspect arrested for Richland hit-and-run incident with inter-agency cooperation (applevalleynewsnow.com) — West Richland Police officers helped track down and stop a suspected impaired driver after a hit-and-run crash in Richland, highlighting close cooperation among local agencies. The suspect’s car was spotted heading toward Benton City, where officers detained the driver before Richland police took custody and continued the investigation.

West Richland man who died in jail was ‘acting strange' before his arrest (tri-cityherald.com) — A 33-year-old West Richland man died Tuesday morning while being held in the Benton County jail’s booking area after his family reported he was acting strangely at home. West Richland officers, medics, and later Benton County deputies were involved in his arrest and transport, and a regional investigative team is now examining what happened; an autopsy is pending and investigators are asking witnesses to come forward.
   

4. Rep. Newhouse will retire, saying he's ready to ‘pass the torch' (tri-cityherald.com) — West Richland residents now have a hometown Democrat, John Duresky, already filed to run for Rep. Dan Newhouse’s 4th District seat as Newhouse announces he’ll retire after his current term. The long-serving Sunnyside Republican’s decision sets up a wide-open 2026 race that’s expected to draw more contenders from across Central Washington.
