School’s almost out and Brightwater is offering a variety of summer programs for young kids, teens and even adults. King County’s Brightwater Center is located at 22505 State Route 9 S.E. in Woodinville.
Intro to Nature Photography, Saturday, June 8, 9 a.m. to noon. Dust off your camera and join us for an inspirational morning in the field with photographer and artist Jeanne Dodds. The workshop will begin with classroom-based instruction, followed by time on the Brightwater nature trails with our cameras at the ready. There will be time to share and critique our work at the end of class while we enjoy a light snack. Participants must be 16 or older. Cost is $45. The Scoop on Poop, Saturday, June 15, 10 a.m. to noon
Poop. We all do it; from birds to worms to humans. Come to Brightwater Center and join Island Wood and King County as we explore the world of poop and the science behind it. We’ll search for the poop of the coyotes, deer, rabbits, and otters that live at Brightwater and learn how even when we don’t see wildlife, we can find evidence of their presence. Free. Take a tour of King County’s newest clean-water facility and learn how waste is treated, recycled and safely returned to the environment.
