Woodinville Creates its Own Version of Shop With a Cop
When Woodinville families cited problems getting to the annual Shop with a Cop event in Covington, local police, schools and Target officials partnered to create a new program – in Woodinville.
When Benjamin Callahan, Woodinville schools resource police officer, was helping to plan the annual Shop With a Cop event in Covington, he ran up against a problem.

Traveling to Covington was causing a problem for local families, so Callahan turned to officials at Woodinville Target and at the Northshore School District. Quiana Didrickson from Target gave each student a $50 gift card to spend for Christmas and ten Woodinville area kids did their holiday shopping with an officer Friday at the store.
The event helps students and families that would not otherwise have the means to buy Christmas presents for themselves or family members.

"The event was a great success with everybody enjoying the holiday spirit," said Woodinville Police Chief Sydney Jackson. "We anticipate making this an annual event with our Target Store partners."
