Woodinville Family Fears Two Dogs Were Stolen

Their English bulldog and West Highland terrier disappeared June 11.

A Woodinville family is searching for two of their dogs, which disappeared from their Lexington neighborhood home earlier this month and are believed stolen.

Kim Jackson said the family last saw their English bulldog, Augie, and their daughter’s West Highland terrier, Raleigh, on June 11 when they left for a graduation party in Redmond. They left the back door open so the dogs could go out to the fenced yard.

When they came home that evening, the two dogs were gone, although their other West Highland terrier, Sadie, was still in the house.

Jackson’s husband noticed the gate was open on the side of the yard, so they thought the dogs got out, and they searched the neighborhood, thinking someone took in the dogs until they could locate their owners.

When there was no sign of them, the family posted fliers, went door to door and searched in the woods.

“There’s not been one sighting, which means somebody has them,” Jackson said Wednesday.

She suspects that their third dog might have gotten out with the other two but didn’t get picked up because she won’t go with strangers and doesn’t like cars, unlike the other two dogs, which are very friendly and will get into a car.

Jackson reported the 2-year-old dogs as stolen to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

“If someone takes your dogs and doesn’t bring them back, they’re stolen,” said Jackson, who has lived in Woodinville for about 25 years. “It’s obvious we’re searching for them. We’ve been to every dog shelter, we post every day on craigslist. We mailed 180 fliers to veterinarians, in hopes someone brings them in.”

The bulldog has a special diet because of food allergies that cause skin rashes, and the Westie needs stomach medication, Jackson said.

“We’re just praying for a miracle,” Jackson said, adding that she was disheartened after unsuccessfully chasing a tip that the two dogs had been spotted at a park in Edmonds. She’s also gotten what she thinks are prank calls from someone claiming to have the bulldog and threatening to hurt it.

“Like my daughter said, how can somebody wake up every day and look at those dogs and not know they have a home?
