Woodinville Music School Launches Scholarship Program

Jam Academy hopes to make music education more accessible to deserving students in the community

Jam Academy Music School Launches Scholarship Program to Empower Students Facing Hardship

Jam Academy, a Woodinville music school, announced today the launch of its new scholarship program to help local students who are facing financial hardship gain access to music lessons and instruments. With this program, JAMS hopes to make music education more accessible to deserving students in the community.

Jam Academy was founded by Chris Griffin, a singer/songwriter, guitarist and educator who grew up in various towns on Seattle's east side. Music lessons weren't in the budget for his family so at age 12, Chris began teaching himself to play music with his late uncle's beat-up, Yamaha acoustic guitar. 7 short years later, in order to help support his own newborn son he began a side-hustle teaching others how to play. By 2007 he had opened the doors to his own music school. Originally named Spotlight Studios the school rebranded in 2009 as Jam Academy Music School. "We believe that everyone should be able to learn the language of music, regardless of their financial situation," says Chris. "With this scholarship program, we hope to empower students to access the music education they deserve."

Once funds are available the school will select their first recipients with advisement from staff at several neighborhood public schools. Scholarship funds will ultimately be made available to as many students as the fund allows. The program aims to make music education accessible to all students age 17 and under. It is Jam Academy's hope to give students who live in our community and love music a chance to develop their skills.

How to Get Involved

Jam Academy is asking for cash donations and approved working equipment donations to support the scholarship program. The donations will help to fund the scholarship program and provide access to instruments for students in need. With it's launch, Jam Academy is taking a step towards making music education more accessible to all students.
