6 Killed In West Virginia Helicopter Crash

Six people were killed when a Vietnam-era helicopter crashed onto a road in Logan County, West Virginia, on Wednesday, according to WSAZ.

LOGAN COUNTY, WV — Six people were killed in a helicopter crash in Logan County, West Virginia, on Wednesday evening, officials confirmed to Patch.

The helicopter, a Vietnam-era Huey used for tourism flights, crashed on Route 17 near Blair Mountain before it caught fire, Logan County Office of Emergency Management spokesperson Ray Bryant said.

The victims' names were not released, but authorities said they were not local.

The Bell UH-1B helicopter had six people on board when it crashed around 5 p.m., according to a Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson.

The National Transportation and Safety Board is investigating the crash with the FAA assisting in the probe.
