Home Security Company Banned From West Virginia
Trio Alarm sales representatives allegedly deceived consumers with high-pressure door-to-door sales pitches.

CHARLESTON, WV — Home security system vendor Trio Alarm LLC was banned from operating in West Virginia under a settlement with the state's attorney general. A lawsuit accused the company and manager Tyler Ignatowski of engaging in deceptive sales practices in the state, where it wasn't licensed to sell services.
Sales representatives allegedly deceived consumers with high-pressure door-to-door sales pitches. The lawsuit also accused the sales representatives of targeting homes with signs or stickers indicating they already had another company's alarm system, but told residents Trio had taken over or would install upgrades with new contracts.
Trio must pay the state $25,000 under the settlement, signed and filed last week in Cabell County Circuit Court. The company must also allow dozens of consumers to get out of their contracts without a cancellation fee.
