• West Virginia native, celebrated jockey Jimbo Bracciale dead at 71 (wvmetronews.com) — Charles Town is mourning Vincent “Jimbo” Bracciale Jr., a hometown native, Charles Town High School graduate, and former state champion wrestler who went on to become a nationally respected jockey and trainer. Bracciale, remembered as a “class act” in racing circles, rode more than 3,500 winners before retiring from the saddle in 1990 and later mentoring younger riders.

• U.S. Marshals in West Virginia arrest seven illegal immigrants, including wanted sexual assault suspect (lootpress.com) — U.S. Marshals arrested a man in Charles Town wanted in Texas on a decades-old aggravated sexual assault of a child warrant, taking him into custody at Somerset Village Shopping Plaza. Six other people at the scene were also detained and turned over to federal immigration authorities, with multiple local police agencies assisting in the operation.
