2. Child Protective Services, Foster Care Improvements Eyed by Morrisey Administration, Berkeley County Delegate (panhandlenewsnetwork.com) — State leaders recently brought a Child Protective Services listening session to Martinsburg, where local families and workers shared concerns about foster care decisions and heavy caseloads. The Morrisey administration and Human Services Secretary Alex Mayer say they’re using feedback, including from Martinsburg, to overhaul placements, case management, and financial oversight in West Virginia’s child welfare system.
   

3. US Army Spc. Beckstrom laid to rest at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton (wowktv.com) — A West Virginia National Guard soldier from Webster Springs killed in a Washington, D.C. shooting has been laid to rest with full military honors in Grafton, while fellow Guardsman Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe of Martinsburg remains hospitalized but improving. The ceremony, attended by top state and national leaders, highlighted her service, personality, and the sacrifice recognized at the West Virginia National Cemetery.
   

4. 81 of 82 Sentenced Following Massive Drug Operation Arrests – Baltimore Man Sentenced to 7 Years (panhandlenewsnetwork.com) — A major federal drug case tied to Berkeley and Jefferson counties has now seen 81 of 82 defendants sentenced, including a Baltimore man given seven years in prison in Martinsburg. Investigators say the organization moved large amounts of fentanyl, meth, and cocaine locally, with Martinsburg Police and other area agencies playing key roles in the multi-agency “Operation Take Back America.”
