Hunters From All 50 States Came To WI For 2022 Gun Deer Season: DNR
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources on Tuesday released harvest totals from Wisconsin's 2022 gun deer hunt.
WISCONSIN — Hunters came to Wisconsin from all 50 states and over 20 countries to take part in the state's 2022 gun deer hunt season, according to a news release from the Department of Natural Resources.
By Sunday hunters bought 795,000 gun, bow, crossbow, sports and patron licenses, the Wisconsin DNR said. Compared to 2021, firearm deer harvest statewide was up 14.4 percent, the release said. Antlered firearm deer harvest was up 14.7 percent and antlerless was up 14.1 percent.
The increase in firearm harvests comes as year-to-date deer license sales are down by 1.6 percent, the DNR said. Since archery seasons opened on Sept. 17, the DNR said 301,000 deer have been registered statewide.
