In the Citizens United ruling, the court said the First Amendment prohibits the government from restricting companies from donating money to political campaigns. Money can pour into Wisconsin elections from across the country.
The 2022 U.S. Senate election cycle is no different, as data from OpenSecrets.com — a website dedicated to following the money in politics — shows. Money has flowed especially fast into the race between U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson and Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes.
