Spectrum announced a donation of $2,500 to Pillars Inc., as part of the company’s national community philanthropic program, Spectrum Employee Community Grants, part of a $1 million programming commitment through year-end 2021.

The funding will help Pillars Inc. continue to provide comprehensive housing solutions and supportive services to Fox-Cities residents experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Through this program, Spectrum’s Appleton Call Center has developed a strong relationship with Pillars. Three Spectrum Employee Community Grants have been awarded to Pillars, Inc. totaling $7,500, and the team of call center representatives has organized collection drives to secure hundreds of hygiene products, additional monetary donations, coats to keep clients warm in the Wisconsin winters, kitchen supplies, and nearly 6,000 masks to help protect people experiencing homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Pillars is an important organization in our community and provides critical services to those in need,” said John Jones, Vice President of Customer Service for Spectrum’s Appleton Call Center. “Our Appleton call center employees are engaged in helping others, and the team’s ongoing support of Pillars is a great example of our ability to work as a team to support the community.”
Spectrum leaders and state Rep. Ron Tusler joined Pillars on Monday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m., for a check presentation to commemorate the partnership and donation.

“The support and partnership of Spectrum and their employees allow Pillars to develop and implement programming in response to changing needs of clients and the community,” said Matt Malm, Development Manager with Pillars. “The success of this grant means Pillars can proceed with confidence, providing the same quality services despite the challenges ahead.”

Spectrum Employee Community Grants has provided funding to more than 293 local nonprofits in 31 states throughout the company’s service area since its inception in July 2019.
Recipients deliver critical social services, helping underserved residents meet basic needs, including food, shelter, clothing, job training and neighborhood safety. Each awardee is nominated by one of the company’s 96,000 U.S. employees who has volunteered with the organization for at least one year.

Spectrum Employee Community Grants are one of several philanthropic programs at Charter Communications, Inc. — which operates the Spectrum brand — developed to support communities where the company provides service and where its employees live and work.

"Great things happen when nonprofits and businesses work together in our community," said state Rep. Ron Tusler. "The donation from Spectrum to Pillars highlight the importance of partnerships to help individuals get access to critical resources."
