2 Brookfield Students Earn $10,000 Kohl Scholarships

BROOKFIELD, WI – The selection committee for the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Scholarship and Fellowship Program has announced recipients of the 2020 Herb Kohl Foundation awards for students, teachers and principals, and two students from Brookfield earned scholarships.

Elbrook School District officials said Brookfield Central High School senior Riley Feng and Brookfield East senior Bridget Berens were awarded Excellence Scholarships on behalf of the foundation for their academic leadership. Each student will receive a $10,000 scholarship from the Foundation.

“The Herb Kohl Foundation has generously supported education throughout Wisconsin for many
years,” said Superintendent Mark Hansen in a statement. “Congratulations to Riley and Bridget for being named recipients of this prestigious award.”

Officials say Excellence Scholarship recipients have demonstrated excellence in academics and a high motivation to achieve. They have also displayed a broad range of activities and leadership
outside the academic setting, and have shown strong promise for succeeding in college and life.
