BROOKFIELD, WI — Seven students at Brookfield high schools will receive scholarships in June, the National Merit Scholarship Program announced on Wednesday.

The students will receive between $500 and $2,000 every year for four years while they pursue their undergraduate study, the scholarship program said in a statement. When all scholarships are disbursed to 7,500 high school seniors, they will add up to $28 million in total.

High school students earned their scholarship by submitting a detailed application, writing an essay and providing information about their extracurricular activities, awards and leadership positions, the program said.
