BROOKFIELD, WI — The Brookfield Police Department said Wednesday it is investigating a bomb threat at Brookfield Elementary School. The school has been evacuated and all children and staff are safe, according to police.
The incident is similar to a threat received on April 9 and is being handled similarly, authorities said.
Wednesday's threat was received at about 1 p.m. K9 units from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department responded and will be searching the school.

Brookfield Road has been closed, so motorists should use Capitol Drive, barker Road, Calhoun Road, and Bluemound Road to make their way through the city, authorities said.
Parents of Brookfield Elementary School students should refrain from responding to school, police said, adding "All children and school staff members have been evacuated and are in a safe location."
