Bring Your Binoculars

Adults and children alike are invited to the city's first International Migratory Bird Day celebration.

After being named a "Bird City," Brookfield is planning its first International Migratory Bird Day celebration for May 21.

Adults and children alike are invited to attend the event from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Nature Center at , 3305 N. Lilly Road.

On tap: a bird walk and identification (bring your binoculars and bird books), backyard habitat information and children's crafts and activities.

In other bird news (Tuesday would have been the 226th birthday for ornithologist John Audubon), the is hosting a bird lecture at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Author Mariette Nowak will discuss how to increase the number and variety of birds in your yard.
