Brookfield-Born Athlete Will Run In 2020 Olympics: Where To Watch

BROOKFIELD, WI — A Brookfield-born runner will compete in a marathon event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on Friday.

Molly Seidel will run in the women's track and field marathon in Sapporo, Japan, at 5 p.m. CDT Friday. NBC will broadcast and stream the event.

Seidel was born in Brookfield and was raised in Hartland, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. She was the first marathoner in U.S. women's history to qualify for the Olympics in her first-ever marathon, the newspaper added.

She'll compete with U.S. teammates Sally Kipyego and Aliphine Tuliamuk, both of whom were born in Kenya. The three qualified for the Tokyo Games in February 2020, NBC Sports reported.

Seidel has described in previous interviews her obsessive-compulsive disorder and eating disorders and how running has helped her deal with them.

"When I'm running, it's the only time that I feel like my brain and my body sync up," Seidel said in a GQ interview about her OCD. "That's why I love it. It is that flow state, and feeling like your brain fits inside of the vessel of your body finally."
