Brookfield Central Girls Golf Team Finishes Second At State

The team finished with a combined score of 664, just several strokes behind 2019 champion Middleton, which came at 651.

BROOKFIELD, WI — The Brookfield Central Girls Golf team recently earned Division 1 State Runner-Up honors during the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association's State Tournament in Madison held on Oct. 14-15.

The Lancers followed-up their victory at sectionals to place second at the state meet. Elmbrook officials reported that the girls team inched above Kettle Moraine by one stroke to secure the second-place finish. The team finished with a combined score of 664, just several strokes behind 2019 champion Middleton, which came at 651.

Elmbrook officials say Brookfield Central's team was led by two, top-10 individual finishes. Sophomore Sarah Balding placed second with round scores of 72 and 78 for a total of 150.

Individual champion Jo Baranczyk, from Bay Port, and senior Sami Krutz, who scored 79 and 76 for a total of 155, placed eighth.

Other members of the award-winning team were; junior C.J. Romero who tied for 28th place, junior Kyley Wipper who tied for 55th place and and Erin Rosencrantz who finished in a tie for 65th place.

"Our players had an incredible run this season," said Head Coach Brian Scrobel in a statement. "I am very proud of their hard work and determination that culminated in a fantastic performance at the state meet."
