BROOKFIELD, WI — Brookfield Central High School students achieved a milestone, after the school's Mock Trial team qualified for the state tournament for the first time in school history.

They advanced to the Wisconsin Mock Trial Regional Tournament which was held on Saturday, Feb. 8. Of the four trials the Lancers participated in, they finished 3-1 and lost only to multiple time state champion Brookfield Academy in the finals.

"This group began their mock trial journey in middle school, and it has been fun and inspiring to see their growth over the past five years. We challenged them a lot, and each time they stepped up their performance until ultimately they earned the honor of representing our school and Brookfield community at the state tournament," coach Jon Vogt said to Patch.

Andrew Ng: "Our team has been together for a number of years and we've been working towards this goal for our entire mock trial careers. It is an honor and a blessing to be able to achieve our goals knowing we have done everything we could to get to this point."

Elianna Del Campo: "I think that some of use may have felt some ambiguity on how far we would make it, however, we worked very hard throughout the entire season, and we felt like we were getting better each trial. Overall I feel the hard work and determination showed at regionals, and the ambiguity disappeared at the end, instead there was joy."
