BROOKFIELD, WI—The City of Brookfield Plan Commission recommended approval of putting three temporary heated huts in the drive-thru at Chick-Fil-A, 1 N Moorland Rd. The dining area is closed due to the pandemic and extra labor is needed for the drive-thru, according to online city documents.

The huts will provide safety for employees from the changing elements and weather conditions. The structures will block wind, trap heat from the heaters, and create social distance between employees and customers, the documents said.

According to a letter from James Weschler, Restaurant Development, Chick-Fil-A, the restaurant drive-thru remains very busy and the volume of traffic has significantly increased.

"By allowing team members to work outside, it promotes socially distancing which is difficult to practice inside the restaurant," Weschler said in the letter.

Previously the location was approved to use pop-up tents. The recommendation next goes to the Common Council.
