Brookfield Home Significantly Damaged In Fire, 1 Suffers Burn Injury
The Brookfield Fire Department said a family pet was lost and a resident was burned when a fire broke out at a home early Thursday morning.

BROOKFIELD, WI — A fire that broke out early Thursday morning at a one-story home in Brookfield caused significant damage alongside burns for one resident and the loss of a family pet, according to fire department officials.
It happened in the 17000 block of Golf Parkway near Betty Lane as several 911 calls about a home being on firecame in around 3:18 a.m., according to a news release from the Brookfield Fire Department. The residents inside the single-family home were alerted to the fire and escaped the burning building before fire crews arrived.
Firefighters found smoke and fire coming from the home's attached garage upon arrival, so crews began an aggressive attack including ventilation and search and rescue of the entire building, the news release said. Firefighters brought the blaze under control shortly before 4 a.m., according to the fire department. The home's garage and stuff inside sustained "extensive" damage in the fire while the inside of the home itself sustained "significant" smoke damage, the fire department said.

A family pet was lost in the fire and one occupant was brought to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment of burn injuries, the fire department said. The American Red Cross is now assisting the home's occupants.
Several fire agencies and other responders assisted the City of Brookfield Fire Department in the fire including firefighters from the Town of Brookfield, Pewaukee, Elm Grove, New Berlin, Menomonee Falls, Waukesha, West Allis, and Tess Corners, Elm Grove EMS and the American Red Cross.
