Brookfield WhirlyBall Celebrates One Year Anniversary

Vice President discusses pandemic and anniversary events for the month of October.

BROOKFIELD, WI—"It has been a unique year but we can’t thank the community enough for the warm welcome they have given us," WhirlyBall’s Vice President, Adam Elias told Patch about WhirlyBall's one-year anniversary.

Opened in October 2019 in Brookfield, WhirlyBall is an entertainment mecca and restaurant bringing a one-of-a-kind social experience to the Milwaukee area. The venue is located at Brookfield Square, 185 S. Morland Road.

The two-story, 45,000 square foot entertainment destination features two famed WhirlyBall courts, 12 bowling lanes, a multi-level LaserTag arena, multiple event spaces, and The Pivot Room, an American eatery and craft beer bar with over 24 rotating local and regional drafts located on the first floor.

The game of WhirlyBall combines lacrosse, hockey, basketball and bumper cars in a game ofskill coupled with chance. While maneuvering bumper cars, two teams of five use hand-held scoops to pass a wiffle ball to each other – and ultimately at a scoring target.

"Its the most fun you can have going four miles per hour," Elias said.

Elias said the pandemic has been challenging but they were thrilled to reopen after the shutdown in June.

“In these uncertain times when we’re seeing many business closures, it’s important to us that we’re still here for our community offering them an outlet for fun and a way to de-stress," he told Patch.

Elias added staff wants guests to feel confident and comfortable when they are coming to WhirlyBall.

Customers want to get out of the house safely and have ample space to spread out.

He said one of the keys to their success through the pandemic has been social distancing and offering private spaces for groups.

"We have safety protocols as part of our dedication to playing it safe," Elias said.

Playing it Safe

Dedicated to playing it safe, WhirlyBall has taken extensive precautionary safety measures in line with CDC guidelines to protect guests and team members. Offering the highest standard of cleanliness, WhirlyBall, Bowling, LaserTag and common areas will be disinfected between each group, hand sanitizer will be readily available throughout the facility, and frequent handwashing protocols will be followed.

Common areas have been equipped with six-foot social distancing markers, and groups will enjoy increased privacy from others during play. WhirlyBall and LaserTag are both fully enclosed allowing one group at a time, and lane dividers and every other lane will be used for Bowling. Team members will receive a daily health check upon arriving to work and will wear a face mask at all times.
