Wisconsin speed skaters have always contributed to the Olympics, with at least one speed skater participating in each U.S. Winter Olympic Team since 1932. Many U.S. medals won in the Olympic Winter Games are from speedskating, either on the long or short track.

After many years of not hosting the Short Track Age Group Nationals, this year’s Nationals will return to Milwaukee and be held at the Pettit National Ice Center. This national-level competition will feature the nation’s most talented skaters, categorized into age divisions. They skate to their fullest potential from March 24 to March 26, where each day is filled with exciting and action-packed moments.

Among the participants heading to Nationals, four skaters from the local Elmbrook School District are looking to medal in their respective categories. The skaters are Aaron Liu and Aidan Liu from Brookfield Central High School, Andrea Cao from Brookfield East High School, and Olivia Guo from Pilgrim Park Middle School. Like the other competitors, they will display their elite racing strategy and ability level in the biggest race of their season.
