Elmbrook Speed Skaters Find Success at Nationals

Skaters win gold, bronze and seventh place in the different age groups

Last weekend, the Elmbrook Speedskating Club participated in the US Short Track Speedskating Age Group National Championships which was held in Lake Placid, New York from 4/1-4/3 (US Lake Placid Holds Short Track Age Group Nationals)

Three skaters who participated in this competition:

  • Aidan Liu, an 8th-grade WHMS who was the Junior D Men Division(11 to 12-year-old skating-aged boys) National Champion out of 25 competitors.
  • Aaron Liu, an 11th-grade BCHS student who was the Junior B Men Division(15 to 16-year-old skating-aged boys) national third-place medalist out of 21 competitors. Aaron also broke the Junior B Men 1000 meter National Record by a second! (record attached)
  • Kevin Niu, a 12th-grade BCHS Student who was the Junior B Men Division(15 to 16-year-old skating-aged boys) national seventh place out of 21 competitors.

The Elmbrook Speedskating Club is proud to have its members represent the Elmbrook School District at the highest national level of short-track speedskating. Together the club made history, creating the Elmbrook Speedskating Club as the first school district speedskating club in the US and celebrating the club's accomplishments nationally.
