Fire Damages Brookfield Home As Firefighters Rescue Dog From Inside
A home in Brookfield caught fire early Friday morning but nobody inside was injured, according to the fire department.
BROOKFIELD, WI — A fire damaged a two-story home near Shore Line Drive and Bradee Street Friday morning in Brookfield but no residents were injured, authorities said.
An explosion was reported in the area just after 4 a.m. When firefighters arrived they saw smoke and fire coming from the second story and the two residents safely outside. But the residents said their two dogs were still in the burning home, the Brookfield Fire Department said in a news release.
Firefighters confronted the fire with ventilation and began a search and rescue. Crews rescued one dog from inside while the other dog was found walking outside, the news release said.

Crews brought the fire under control by 5:32 p.m., according to the news release. Three firefighters sustained minor injuries during the operation but nobody else was injured, according to the fire department.
The home was left with extensive damage though authorities said a cause has not yet been found. The American Red Cross is assisting the residents of the home, according to the news release.
