The restaurant has been closed since the fire on Tuesday Jan 5th 2021. Jose’s of Brookfield has
been the flagship unit of the Jose’s brand. DeRosa Corporation has entered into a contract for
the sale of the restaurant property to occur later this year.

The Town of Brookfield Fire Department was called on Jan. 5 after an employee notified the fire department, that there was smoke in the kitchen and it was getting worse.

When firefighters arrived, they found customers evacuating the restaurant and the inside filled with smoke. Firefighters had a difficult time locating the fire due to the fact it was inside a wall separating the two cooking areas. The fire was contained to this area and did not spread, according to the fire department's release.

There are three other Blue Sombrero in Wauwatosa, Racine and Fox Point. DeRosa Corp. also also operates the Chancery in Mequon.
