More Than 150 Gallons of Gas Stolen

Brookfield Place Gas manager told police he believes theft tampered with the fuel pump, which only recorded sale of 7 gallons, not 160.

A truck driver pumped 160 gallons of premium gasoline worth $635 but paid for just seven gallons after that was all that was recorded on the fuel pump, police reports say.

Michael Miller, the manager of Brookfield Place Gas, 3075 N. 124th Street, told police he believed the truck driver had tampered with the fuel pump, and that video surveillance didn't catch the driver's image, according to reports.

The alleged theft occurred at pump No. 7 at 12:40 a.m. Friday and a VISA card was used for the payment of seven gallons. Police were investigating.
