National Merit Scholarships Awarded To 4 Brookfield Students

Four students who have ties to Brookfield were named National Merit Scholarship winners on Monday.

BROOKFIELD, WI — Four students who have ties to Brookfield were named college-sponsored National Merit Scholarship winners on Monday.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation named over 1200 winners across the country in its latest round of scholarship announcements. Each sponsor college had officials who selected winners from a pool of finalists in the scholarship program, according to an NMSC news release.

The group of Brookfield students who won on Monday either attend school in the area, or are from the Brookfield area but attend other schools.

The winners of the college-sponsored scholarships can expect to receive around $500-$2000 each year that they are studying at the college that financed the award, according to NMSC.

For 2022, about 155 colleges and universities are sponsoring over 3800 awards, NMSC said. The company's announcement on Monday was the final slew of winners for this year.

Here's the list of winners connected to Brookfield:

  • Keegan M. Doyle, of Brookfield, attending Marquette University High School. Selected by the University of Alabama with a probable career field of electrical engineering.
  • Alexander M. Star, of Brookfield, attending Brookfield Academy. Selected by the University of Miami with a probable career field of economics.
  • Joseph P. Waters, of Elm Grove, attending Brookfield East High School. Selected by Purdue University with a probable career field of statistics.
  • Jacqueline M. Dieck, of Menomonee Falls, attending Brookfield Academy. Selected by Auburn University with a probable career field of mechanical engineering.
