BROOKFIELD, WI — Sweetgreen, a restaurant chain known for its "plant-forward" yet diverse menu of salads, warm bowls and plates, is cutting the ribbon on its new location at the Corners of Brookfield Tuesday morning.

It'll be Wisconsin's second location for the chain, which has a seasonally rotating menu boasting salad dishes like a kale caesar and "super green goddess," and warm dishes like a chicken teriyaki bowl and "shroomami," according to the chain's website.

For each meal sold on opening day on Tuesday, Aug. 15, the new Sweetgreen location (20330 West Lord Street, Suite G117) plans to donate a meal to the FOOD Pantry Serving Waukesha County in an effort to support the organization and people experiencing food insecurity, according to a news release from opening-day organizers.

Opening day includes a ribbon cutting alongside the Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce about 10 a.m. with Sweetgreen giveaway merchandise and, while supplies last, a tote to fill up at a "complimentary farmers market" to show off Sweegreen's midwest partners, according to a statement from The Brand Guild, a public relations firm for the restaurant chain.

The opening day will also feature floral bouquet giveaways while supplies last from Marius Bell Floral, and live music from DJ Andre Wallace, a member of the Milwaukee Buck's DJ crew, according to the news release.

Once open, store hours will be 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. daily, the news release said. Visitors will be able to choose from indoor seating and a patio. Decor will include paintings inspired by the self-sufficient nature of plants commissioned by Sweetgreen from Alyssa Kraus, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, according to the ribbon-cutting announcement.

When the new Sweetgreen location was first announced, Jim McPhail, the company's chief development officer, wrote he was thrilled to open one of the first Wisconsin locations at the Corners of Brookfield.

"We look forward to sharing new fresh, healthy food options with Wisconsinites, and introducing them to our mission of reimagining fast food," said McPhail in an initial news release.
