Alderman Mike Hallquist said Waste Management has "utterly failed to fulfill their contractual obligations for the last week of 2021 across the city."

"I understand everyone's frustration. The city signed a contract with Waste Management and we expected them to close out their service adequately and professionally. Thankfully they will not be the city's garbage and recyclable hauler for at least the next 7 years," Hallquist said.
Because of the New Year’s holiday, trash collection will be one day later than normal in the city of Brookfield, the city announced online.
"If you have regular pickup on Tuesday, it will be Wednesday this week, etc. with Friday collection day provided on Saturday," the city said.
Alderman Brad Blumer said there are still "significant misses all over the city" even some prior to the holiday.
"The city is aware of the issue and attempting to get Waste Management to do their job and is investigating contractual recourse," Blumer said.
