Swanson Elementary Fifth Grader Headed To State Spelling Bee
Maadhav Karun competed for the title against 28 students from several area school districts and private schools.

BROOKFIELD, WI — A fifth-grade student at Elmbrook's Swanson Elementary School is advancing to state after he won the Cooperative Educational Service Agency's regency spelling bee earlier this month.
Maadhav Karun, a fifth-grade student at Swanson Elementary won the CESA #1 Regional Spelling Bee on Feb. 17, Elmbrook officials said. Maadhav competed for the title against 28 students from several area school districts and private schools.
Maadhav will continue on to the Badger State Spelling Bee in Madison on March 7.

He will compete against the champions of other regional spelling bees across the state for a chance to represent Wisconsin at the Scripps National Spelling Bee, May 24-29, in the Washington D.C. area.
