Vehicle Fleeing Police Crashes, Driver Airlifted To Hospital: Sheriff

BROOKFIELD, WI — After Pewaukee police pulled a vehicle over to arrest a wanted passenger Thursday afternoon near Capitol Drive and Five Fields Road, the driver fled the stop, crashed down the road, and was airlifted to a hospital, according to a news release from the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office.

Police stopped the vehicle just after noon, the news release said. The wanted passenger exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident, but the driver fled the scene, according to the sheriff's office. A sheriff's deputy tried to follow the vehicle and a pursuit began.

Soon after, the vehicle crashed near Capitol Drive and Barker Road, the sheriff's office said. The driver, a 29-year-old Milwaukee man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was brought to a hospital by Flight For Life, the sheriff's office said.
