Week Ahead: Beatles Tribute Band, School Closure Debate

Parents are getting excited and children are realizing the end of summer is near. So what are you going to do the last full week before school starts for many on Sept. 1? Here's a glimpse into what's happening in Brookfield events and news this week:

News 

Elementary school closure discussion: The Elmbrook School Board might narrow which should be presented for community input at September listening sessions. The board meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the central administrative offices, 13780 Hope St.

All politics is local: Offer your take on state politics or get assistance as state Sen. Rich Zipperer (R-Pewaukee) at Brookfield. He'll be at at 6 p.m. Wednesday and then head to the at 7 p.m.

Events

Children's event at library: Learn about China in a program, Passport to China, that will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at the , 1900 N. Calhoun Road. 

Elm Grove Tunes on Tuesday: The Beatles tribute band The Britins performs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Elm Grove Village Park, 13600 Juneau Blvd.

Theater auditions: The Sunset Playhouse will hold auditions from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday for "Prelude to a Kiss." Scripts can be checked out at the playhouse, 800 Elm Grove Road in Elm Grove, for a $10 deposit.

Brookfield Farmers Market: The  is held from 7:30 a.m. to noon every Saturday through October, attracting about 4,000 people weekly. It's held in the Civic Plaza next to , 2000 N. Calhoun Road.

Costume 5K Run/Walk: It's not just an ordinary run/walk when the Sunset Playhouse is involved. There will be prizes for best costumes and root beer floats. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, with kickoff at 9:30 a.m., at the playhouse, 800 Elm Grove Road, Elm Grove.
