Chase Leads Officers Into Milwaukee + Gas Grill Fire: Franklin Police

Here's a look back at noteworthy call logs from the Franklin Police Department for May 16-Sunday.

FRANKLIN, WI — Franklin police took a woman from Milwaukee into custody on May 16 around 5 p.m. in a business parking lot in the 6700 block of 27th Street after officers found her child in her car unattended during high temperatures, according to the latest logs reported by the Franklin Police Department.

Officers found the 7-year-old child in the woman's vehicle alone, with the windows up, on a day where temperatures reached 78 degrees, police said. Police said it took them 20 minutes to get into the vehicle. Police turned the child over to his father, and took the woman into custody, according to police logs.

Officers notified Child Protective Services and referred charges of juvenile abuse and neglect to the district attorney, logs said. The woman was let out on bail, according to logs.

Here's a look back at other noteworthy logs from Franklin Police for May 16-Sunday:

  • Someone reported their catalytic converter was cut from their vehicle when it was parked at an apartment complex in the 7200 block of Ballpark Drive at some point between Saturday and Sunday, police logs said.

  • Police chased a stolen vehicle they saw in Franklin on May 19 into Milwaukee and eventually found the car, but the driver managed to get away, police logs said. Franklin police spotted the car, reported stolen by Milwaukee police, near Sycamore Street and 27th Street around 11 p.m. Officers chased the car east down College Avenue, north on the freeway, and ended the pursuit near 6th Street and Hayes in Milwaukee. Officers found the vehicle in the middle of the road near 6th and Becher Streets, logs said.
  • Franklin police took a Milwaukee man into custody near Loomis Road and Drexel Avenue on May 19 just after 8:30 p.m. after police saw him driving fast toward oncoming traffic, according to police logs.
  • Franklin police helped the Franklin Fire Department with a fire in the 2900 block of Hilltop Lane on May 17 after a gas grill caught fire and spread to a house, police logs said.
  • A Franklin resident in the 9000 block of 35th Street told police someone damaged his garage door but nothing was reported stolen, police logs said.
