FRANKLIN, WI — A living deer injured with an arrow through its head was recently discovered wandering Whitnall Park, CBS 58 News had first reported.

Reports of possible illegal hunting in the park have come in over the past year, according to Wisconsin DNR Conservation Warden Samuel Haferkorn. He told Patch the agency is aware of the wounded deer, and that they have been monitoring the situation through patrols in the area following reports from concerned citizens.

Every report of possible illegal hunting that comes into the DNR is different, and they are looked into on a case by case basis, Haferkorn said.

"I've never seen anything like that in Whitnall Park," Buth told the television station.

The DNR has asked anyone who sees signs of illegal nighttime hunting or hunting activity to report it to the DNR hotline at 1-800-TIP-WDNR.

Carly Hintz, the director of the Wehr Nature Center in Whitnall Park, told CBS 58 the reports of the deer with an arrow through its head came up as early as mid-February. The Wisconsin Human Society told the television statement that while the injury appears "terrible," it hasn't seemed to impact the deer's survival.
