FRANKLIN, WI — Over a year after Sandra Eckert's disappearance from Franklin was first reported, police are now telling multiple news outlets that they are investigating the case as a possible homicide.

Police are tracking two people of interest in the case, and confirmed on Friday that they are investigating Eckert's disappearance as a homicide, TMJ4 News reported.

In December, Eckert's family raised the reward for any information that leads to a conviction to $50,000, the Franklin Police Department announced.

Eckert was 70 when she went missing. She was last seen at her Franklin home on the evening of March 26, 2021, according to police.

Muskego police saw Eckert's vehicle, a 2005 Dodge Stratus with plates 319-LGT, near Racine Avenue and Crowbar Drive in Muskego on March 27, just after the disappearance, according to police.

Police said they've searched water bodies near where the vehicle was last seen, according to the report by TMJ4.

Police told WISN12 they are holding onto possible evidence and electronics they confiscated from someone's home during a search warrant in connection with the case. Police have not so far referred any charges to the district attorney, the report said.

When police announced the family's reward increase in December, they also asked anyone with information on Eckert's case to contact them at 414-425-2522 while referencing case number 21-006397.

Franklin police were not immediately available over the phone for comment Friday.
