FRANKLIN, WI — A boutique hotel with a baseball theme and a mixed-used apartment complex are next in store for Ballpark Commons in Franklin, the site's developer told the Franklin Common Council during a June 7 meeting.

After the hotel and apartments, ROC Ventures CEO Mike Zimmerman told the council "the good news is that I am done, I have no more land over at Ballpark Commons."

Zimmerman announced the new development projects on the 4th anniversary of the day ground was broken at Ballpark Commons. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was first to publish the news.

The boutique hotel, to be placed at the corner of Rawson Avenue and Ballpark Drive, Zimmerman said, is set to be named "Pennant Hotel."

Zimmerman said the 30-room hotel, inspired by a similar one in Colorado, will have a "sort-of retro baseball theme to it."

The news of the final expected developments at Ballpark Commons came as the site's annual festivities hit the ground running. The Milwaukee Milkmen are well into their season, movies have begun screening at The Milky Way Drive In, and more, Zimmerman said in the June 7 meeting.

Alongside the announcement of the new hotel, Zimmerman said a 78-unit apartment complex is to be built at Ballpark Commons. The apartments will include a pool, a clubhouse, plus 5900 square feet of retail space, Zimmerman said.

Zimmerman said he expects the apartment's 78 units to be divided equally among one-, two- and three-bedroom units.

Zimmerman also provided an update on the opening of Luxe Golf Bays. He said they're looking to hire about 140 people, and despite a couple of delays so far, the plan is a tentative Aug. 12 opening.

Two restaurants, a national-chain restaraunt called Dog Haus, and an Italian restaraunt, should open at the golf bays by the end of 2022, according to Zimmerman.

For the apartments, a June 2023 groundbreaking is expected. For the boutique hotel, construction could begin this year, Zimmerman said in the meeting.
