Saputo Cheese Facility Could Bring 600 Jobs To Franklin: Reports

A Saputo cheese facility is in the works for Franklin and it could bring 600 jobs, reports show.

FRANKLIN, WI — A Saputo cheese facility has been planned for Franklin, and with it, 600 jobs could come to the area.

BizTimes Milwaukee first reported the company's plans to construct a new facility near Oakwood Road and 27th Street. Saputo has multiple locations across Wisconsin, and according to its website, the Canadian-based brand produces and distributes a variety of cheese products across the U.S.

The new facility would serve as an office and cheese distribution facility for the Saputo Dairy USA Network, Milwaukee Business Journal reported. The 600 or more possible jobs at the facility would largely include processing and packaging cheese and then preparing it for distribution, the report said.

The facility could be part of a larger business park in the area. The City of Franklin has made some way to develop the area through re-zoning and a tax incremental financing district, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. Two other buildings separate from Saputo's could be in the works for next door, the report said.
