The high school increased security and continued holding classes as usual on Tuesday, however, all after-school activities, community classes and events were canceled for the night to continue searches.

“It is important to emphasize to our school community that no students at Greendale High School were in any imminent, real danger,” wrote Greendale High School Steve Lodes in an email.

The entire high school was searched by police using bomb-sniffing dogs on Tuesday and declared clear by Greendale Police, according to an earlier press release from the Greendale School District.

The high school will remain open Wednesday.

Lodes also wrote “until the final details are in place, the investigation is ongoing.”

To ensure the safety of the building school officials will have additional security measures on Wednesday. Beginning at 6:45 a.m. students will only be allowed to enter through the main atrium entrance and through the front entrance to the east of the Multi-purpose Room.

“I want to thank everyone, our parents who kept level heads, our students who displayed maturity and cooperation during what was a trying day, the Greendale High School staff who kept learning and students’ well-being at the center of their work, and the Greendale Police Department, who immediately took action and worked with us to ensure the safety of our students,” said Lodes in the email.
