Need to get the kids out of the house this weekend? Well, Greendale Patch has a list of five great things to do with the family as another Wisconsin winter weekend passes.

Where/When: Greendale Public Library (basement), 5647 Broad St./Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Why pay full price for children’s books, movies and CDs when you can get them gently used? The library is promising an extensive collection of donated materials and everything is new to this sale.

• The Little Engine that Could

Where/When: Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, 325 W. Walnut St., Milwaukee/Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. both days

Why Go: More trains! You all know the story about the train of toys that needs to get to the boys and girls on the other side of the mountain. Only the Little Blue Engine, the smallest in the fleet, is willing to give it a shot. Sure to teach your kids lessons in perseverance and self-confidence.

Pricing: $10 children ages 3-12; $12 for adults

Why Go: Disney favorites from The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Peter Pan and others join Mickey and Minnie in a show with great action and music for all ages.

Pricing: $15-$62 for adults; $10-$62 for kids.

Where/When: Health Department Thursday Feb. 17  from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for adults and kids

Why Go: You’ve put if off long enough. Take the children to the mall’s Fun Factory later to dry the tears.
