Greendale High School Graduation Rates Increase

Greendale High School's graduation rate increased by 1.3 percentage points over the previous year.

Greendale High School’s graduation rate for 2011 was 99.1%, an increase of 1.3 percentage points over the previous year, according to data released yesterday by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Even when measured using the new four-year formula required by the U.S. Department of Education, Greendale High School demonstrated growth with a graduation rate of 93.7%, up 1.5 percentage points from 2009-10. Under this model, only students who earn a regular high school diploma within exactly four years of starting high school are counted.

“Graduating from Greendale High School is a passage to a better life for our youth.  It is not the end of learning, but rather the first step to higher education, worker training or the armed forces,” said Greendale School District Superintendent William Hughes.  “Our students can no longer depend on graduating from high school.  It is better to think of high school graduation as a launch pad to the next phase of their lives, which includes going on to higher education.”
