📰 News we're reading

• Records detail Greenfield police chief's rise despite disciplinary history (fox6now.com) — Greenfield residents are learning more about Police Chief Jay Johnson’s disciplinary history, including past restrictions on his supervisory role, now that hundreds of pages of records have been released. The documents raise questions about how he was ultimately chosen as chief in 2019 and note that no emails or texts were found explaining the Police and Fire Commission’s decision, while Johnson remains on paid leave facing a misconduct charge.

• Ralph J. Goetz (tomahawkleader.com) — A Greenfield resident, Natalee Lamantia, is among the many family members mourning the passing of her grandfather, 91-year-old Ralph J. Goetz of Tomahawk. Ralph was a Milwaukee native, Air Force reservist, auto body shop owner, and lifelong racing enthusiast who later retired in Tomahawk. Funeral services will be held in spring 2026, with details to be announced.
