HUDSON, WI β€” Nonprofit groups are keystone community organizations in the Hudson area. Fortunately, there is no shortage of organizations to volunteer for or get behind financially.

Here are five nonprofit groups you should know about in the Hudson area:

1. St. Croix Valley Food Bank: The food bank accepts donations and volunteers in its mission to end hunger in Western Wisconsin.

2. Coco's Heart Dog Rescue: A mainly volunteer-driven organization welcoming dogs from unfortunate situations to house them with foster parents and prepare them for adoption.

3. Hudson Area Backpack Program: A program that seeks to help students and families experiencing food insecurity by providing them with basic food and items for daily living.

4. Friends of Willow River and Kinnickinnic State Parks: Seeks to work with the DNR to organize and fund supplemental park programs, projects and events. The group is also helping to build a new Willow River Nature Center.

5. Bridge For Community Life: Provides programs for youth and adults with disabilities in life skills, learning and recreation within the community and employment services for job seekers with disabilities.
