CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI β The juvenile defendant arrested in connection with a 10-year-old girl's death appeared in court on Wednesday.
A Chippewa Falls judge ordered a $1 million bail for an unnamed 14-year-old boy who was connected with Iliana "Lily" Peters' death. Peters' body was found in a wooded area on Monday near a walking trail by Duncan Creek in the Western Wisconsin city.
"I need to consider the threats to the community," Judge Benjamin Lane said. "This could be a further threat if the individual was no longer in custody."

The boy was charged with first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree sexual assault, WBAY reported. If he makes bail, the judge ordered him to stay away from other juveniles and dangerous weapons.
The 14-year-old intended to rape and kill Peters when he took her away from her aunt's house on Sunday, prosecutors said at the court hearing. The boy has been a Chippewa Falls resident all his life.
